SodaSlim capsules: the dose, the shell and why they are not gummies or drops

The dose is one capsule a day, and one capsule holds 658 mg of extract across five rows. The label does not print a capsule size.

The directions read: "As a dietary supplement, take one (1) capsule daily." The caution adds: do not exceed the recommended dose. There is no time of day and no food or water instruction. The label does not say if a capsule may be opened or split, so we do not suggest it.

• Four rows are 130 mg each; the caffeine row is 138 mg (4 x 130 + 138 is 658 mg).
• The capsule has at least 138 mg of caffeine, about a third of FDA's 400 mg a day reference for healthy adults, before any coffee or tea (FDA, Spilling the Beans caffeine).
• The coffee row's own caffeine is not stated, so we write "at least", never "exactly".

Ask your doctor or pharmacist first if you take any prescription medicine, a thyroid, blood pressure, heart-rhythm, anxiety, depression, sleep or diabetes medicine, or if you have liver disease, a heart condition or high blood pressure: caffeine and green tea extract can interact with medicines (NCCIH using supplements wisely). Not for under 18, pregnant or nursing (label). Chest pain, fainting, a racing heart that will not settle or trouble breathing: call 911.

Inside the shell are five powders, and the form does not change what the research says about them. No trial tested this capsule in any form.

FDA puts 400 mg of caffeine a day at about two to three 12-ounce cups of coffee (FDA, Spilling the Beans caffeine). At 138 mg the caffeine row is about 35% of that 400 mg (138 / 400), so the capsule counts toward the same daily total as your drinks. Use the caffeine budget to add them up.

For the other four rows, the evidence is thin. Green coffee extract trials pooled in a 2020 review (15 trials, 897 people) showed a 1.23 kg difference with no dose-response (Asbaghi 2020, green coffee meta). A 1998 garcinia trial (135 people, 1,500 mg HCA, 12 weeks) found no difference from placebo (Heymsfield 1998, garcinia RCT). We found no human trial of raspberry ketone alone (NIH ODS, Dietary Supplements for Weight Loss). Green tea trials outside Japan averaged 0.04 kg, which the review called not likely clinically important (Jurgens 2012, Cochrane green tea).
